Race Report

RACE-2 THE LYON RATING 55-30 (CLASS 4) 1050 METRES (134)

4 Court Achiever (Apprentice Y M Choi) – Apprentice Y M Choi rider of the gelding explained his mount hung out badly rounding the turn and in the straight and for this reason he was unable to ride it out in his usual manner. Trainer K M Chin was informed that the gelding will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial before racing again.
5 Good Alloy (H Lam) – Proved difficult to load. Trainer C F Chan was informed that a warning had been placed against the gelding and should it perform in a similar manner in future further action may be taken. 5 Good Alloy which was eased down from the 600 metres was found to be lame in the right foreleg. Trainer C F Chan was informed that the gelding will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until a veterinary certificate is produced.
6 Happiness In Peace (W T Pao) –On jumping away was hampered by 4 Court Achiever which shifted out. Performed below market expectations. Rider was unable to offer any real excuse for the gelding’s performance. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
9 River Freedom (J Cordero) –Was resaddled prior to the start. Jumped away awkwardly got its head in the air, racing ungenerously for a number of strides.
10 River Ground (K W Leong) –Near the 600 metres had to be steadied when awkwardly placed between runners.
12 Strong Wind (D Chong) –Was slow to muster speed. Jockey D Chong the rider of 12 Strong Wind which tailed the field through the early and middle stages of the event explained that his mount would be better suited over more ground as it could not muster sufficient speed to maintain contact with the field.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Near the 700 metres 3 Captain Genuki (L Salles) had to be checked when tightened for room between 7 True Brother (C Perkins) which shifted in slightly and 8 Hostwin Helios (K K Lai) which after making contact when racing tight with 3 Captain Genuki had its hindquarters turned forcing that gelding out slightly. After consideration, Stewards took no action, however advised all riders to exercise the utmost care at all times.
