RACE-2 THE NEWCASTLE RATING 30-0 (CLASS 6) 1050 METRES (80)

1 Alway Better (A Aucharuz) –Was marginally slow to begin.
2 Stakemaster (M Cangas) –Jumped awkwardly.
4 By Kings Boy (C F Chan) – After the race the Veterinary Surgeon reported that the gelding was making respiratory noises. Trainer K C Chong was informed that he will be required to present 4 By Kings Boy to the Veterinary Hospital for a thorough veterinary examination, to include an endoscopic examination on Saturday, 3 December 2016.
8 Safe Gold Baby (L Corrales) –Knuckled on jumping away.
10 Rockin Laser (W Smith) –Jumped awkwardly. The Stewards questioned Jockey W Smith regarding his riding over the final 100 metres. Jockey W Smith explained his mount failed to muster speed in the early stages and was unable to maintain a position close to the remainder of the field. He added that he placed his mount under hard riding throughout the race, however 10 Rockin Laser never travelled comfortably, had a tendency to race with its head up and failed to make up ground. He further added that 10 Rockin Laser never responded to his riding in the home straight and near the 100 metres he elected to ease his mount down as in his opinion his mount was a beaten horse. He stated that no sooner did he ease his mount 10 Rockin Laser commenced to stride ungenerously and threw its head around on a number of occasions. After considering all of the circumstances, in particular the racing manners of 10 Rockin Laser throughout the race, the Stewards noted Jokey W Smith’s explanation, however reminded him of his obligations to fully ride his mounts out to the finish.
11 Cheerful Companion (W H Lao) –Was buffeted shortly after the start between 6 Chilli Boy and 7 Beautiful Illusion, both of which shifted ground.
12 Shadow Master (K H Yu) –Raced wide without cover throughout.
