Race Report

RACE-3 THE LUCKNOW RATING 55-30 (CLASS 4) 1200 METRES (209)

1 Power Battery (Apprentice S Meneanen) –Near the 900 metres was brushed by 12 River Dream which was racing fiercely, as a result made contact with the running rail and became unbalanced. Cast its right fore plate during the run.
2 My Lucky Baby (H Lam) –Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.
6 Eangle Commander (M Wepner) –Stood flat footed as the start was effected and lost considerable ground. Trainer S Chow was informed that the gelding will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it has performed satisfactorily in an official Barrier Trial.
7 Gem Fighter (K H Yu) –Raced wide without cover throughout. Was then inclined to hang out rounding the home turn.
12 River Dream (K W Leong) –From the 1000 metres and until the 800 metres raced fiercely and proved extremely difficult to ride. Trainer S H Cheong was informed that a warning had been placed against 12 River Dream for its racing manners and should it perform in such a manner in future, further action may be taken.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Following the running of the race, the “Enquiry” sign was semaphored to allow the Stewards to consider an application lodged by Jockey M Wepner the rider of 6 Eangle Commander in that he was of the opinion that his mount had been denied a fair start. Evidence was taken from Jockey M Wepner, Trainer S Chow and Starters Mr. P K Mou and Mr. W K Lei. After viewing all available footage and considering all of the evidence, it was established that as the start was effected 6 Eangle Commander stood flat footed of its own accord and lost considerable ground. Under the circumstances, the Stewards were satisfied that 6 Eangle Commander had been afforded a fair start and correct weight was declared.
