Race Report

RACE-1 H.K. Macau Retired Police Trophy RATING 70-50 (CLASS 2&3) 1200 METRES (254)

1 Victory Moment (Y M Choi) -Leaving the 1000 metres had to be steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of 4 Captain Fabulous which when racing fiercely was taken out by 10 Fortune Fast which shifted out when also racing fiercely. After considering all the circumstances, the Stewards took no further action. Had difficulty obtaining clear running over the final 50 metres.
4 Captain Fabulous (O Chavez) -Raced fiercely in the early and middle stages. Near the 700 metres when continuing to race fiercely raced up onto the heels of 3 Thar and had to be checked.
5 The Happy Prince (W Smith) -Raced wide without cover throughout. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
6 Felizmaster (C F Chan) -Was slow to begin.
8 Whawei Spirit (Apprentice C L Cheung) -Was marginally slow to begin. Near the 800 metres had to be checked.
10 Fortune Fast (S Nakano) -A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into a racing incident at the 850 metres where 8 Whawei Spirit was checked. Evidence was taken from riders of 8 Whawei Spirit (Apprentice C L Cheung) and 11 Fortune Paradise (F Henrique). Jockey F Henrique the rider of 11 Fortune Paradise pleaded guilty to charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that near the 850 metres he failed to make sufficient effort to prevent 11 Fortune Paradise from shifting in when insufficiently clear of 8 Whawei Spirit which had to be checked and lost its position. Jockey F Henrique’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 3 race meetings covering the meetings of 14, 21 & 28 June 2019. In arriving at penalty the Stewards took into account Jockey F Henrique’s guilty plea, the degree of the interference and his poor riding record this season. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
