Race Report

RACE-4 THE CORONEL MESQUITA RATING 70-50 (CLASS 2&3) 1200 METRES (40)

1 Mountain Tiger (F Henrique) - Bumped with 5 Thehorseiswithme on jumping away. Cast its right front plate during the race.
2 Association Seven (S Ladjadj) - Near the 600 metres when the pace of the race slowed, raced up on the heels of 4 Thar and had to be steadied. 9 Chromium which was following improved onto the heels 2 Association Seven was checked and shifted out forcing 8 Royal Master wider of the track. After considering all of the circumstances, the Stewards took no further action. On entering the home straight was disappointed for a run between 4 Thar and 7 Golden Fans and was obliged to shift in near the 250 metres to obtain clear running. The Stewards questioned Jockey S Ladjadj in regards to his riding of 2 Association Seven rounding the home turn in particular the reasons for not improving to the outside of 4 Thar. Jockey S Ladjadj stated that rounding the home turn he considered improving wider on the track around 4 Thar, however he noticed that 7 Golden Fans was attempting to shift off the running rail to improve and was concerned that 4 Thar would then be forced wider on the track which in turn would have forced his mount wider on the track. He stated as a result of this he elected to maintain his position behind 4 Thar and in the home straight attempted to find clear running closer to the running rail. After considering all of the circumstances, the Stewards noted his explanation. Jockey S Ladjadj was issued with a reprimand for dropping his whip at the 75 metres.
3 Destiny's Choice (K H Yu) - Raced fiercely in the middle stages.
4 Thar (B Yamzon) - Near the 700 metres had to be eased away the heels of 10 Dr Diamond which shifted out slightly.
5 Thehorseiswithme (L Corrales) - Bumped with 1 Mountain Tiger on jumping away. Had a tendency to lay out rounding the home turn. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
7 Golden Fans (W L Ho) - Was held up rounding the home turn and was unable to establish clear running until near the 150 metres. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
8 Royal Master (J B Hamel) - Near 600 metres was forced wider on the track by 9 Chromium Alloy.
9 Chromium Alloy (H Lam) - Near the 600 metres had to be checked and shifted out.
11 Tagmaster (O Chavez) -Raced fiercely in the middle stages. Jockey O Chavez was reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts out fully to the finish of the race whenever possible. In determining not to issue a more severe penalty, the Stewards were satisfied it did not affect the overall placings of the race.
