RACE-1 THE TOWNSVILLE RATING 70-50 (CLASS 2&3) 1500 METRES (193)
1 Red Phoenix (S Ladjadj) -Had some difficulty in establishing clear running on entering the home straight and until leaving the 100 metres. Near the 150 metres dipped.
2 Draft Camp (S Nakano) -Near the 1300 metres had to be checked. Approaching the 200 metres was bumped on a number of occasions by 3 Cambodia Star which shifted in slightly under pressure before being corrected by its rider.
3 Cambodia Star (D Barros) -Raced greenly throughout and had a tendency to hang out rounding the home turn. Trainer W Smith was informed that a warning had been placed on 3 Cambodia Star for its racing manners.
4 Hostwin Epanoui (Apprentice C L Cheung) -Was slow to begin. Was held up on entering the home straight and was unable to establish clear running until leaving the 250 metres.
5 Knows It All (F Henrique) -On entering the home straight was unable to establish clear running until leaving the 100 metres. Over the final 50 metres was held up when awkwardly placed on the heels of the tiring 2 Draft Camp and went to the line without being fully tested.
6 Tagmaster (W L Ho) -Raced wide rounding the first turn. Approaching the 1000 metres was bumped by 11 Winnie Star which was taken out when bumped heavily by 10 Georgian Ease which raced fiercely and shifted out when awkwardly placed on the heels of 3 Cambodia Star which when leading raced greenly and slowed the pace. Leaving the 1000 metres was again bumped by 11 Winnie Star and taken outwards. Raced wide without cover throughout. Near the 300 metres was bumped by 10 Georgian Ease which hung out slightly under pressure. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
7 Unforgettable (M Tanaka) -Was hampered shortly after the start by 2 Draft Camp which was taken out by 10 Georgian Ease which hung out. On entering the home straight was held up and was unable to establish clear running until leaving the 100 metres.
8 Autumn Cloud (Y M Choi) -Steadied leaving the 1000 metres. Raced wide without cover throughout. Near the 100 metres was bumped by 11 Winnie Star which shifted out and away under pressure from 7 Unforgettable which shifted out slightly.
9 Beautiful Eighteen (K H Yu) -Raced wide rounding the home turn.
10 Georgian Ease (T Appie) -Hung out shortly after the start. Approaching the 1000 metres shifted out when awkwardly placed on the heels of 3 Cambodia Star which when leading raced greenly and slowed the pace. -Had a tendency to hang out rounding the home turn. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
11 Winnie Star (L Corrales) -Approaching the 1000 metres was bumped heavily by 10 Georgian Ease which raced fiercely and shifted out when awkwardly placed on the heels of 3 Cambodia Star which when leading raced greenly and slowed the pace. Leaving the 1000 metres had to be checked away from the heels of 10 Georgian Ease which was taken out by 3 Cambodia Star which when racing greenly shifted out.
RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into an incident near the 1300 metres where 2 Draft Camp had to be checked. Evidence was taken from the riders of 2 Draft Camp (S Nakano), 3 Cambodia Star (D Barros), 6 Tagmaster (W L Ho), 10 Georgian Ease (T Appie) and 11 Winnie Star (L Corrales). It was established that near the 1300 metres 3 Cambodia Star shifted out slightly and bumped with 11 Winnie Star which at the same time was taken in slightly by 6 Tagmaster which rolled in marginally. As a result of the contact with 11 Winnie Star, 3 Cambodia Star then raced greenly and shifted in abruptly despite the effort of its rider D Barros, resulting in 2 Draft Camp having to be checked when tightened for room between 3 Cambodia Star and 10 Georgian Ease which also shifted out slightly. After considering all of the circumstances, in particular the racing manners of 3 Cambodia Star, the Stewards took no further action other than to place a warning on 3 Cambodia Star for its racing manners.

Evidence was taken from the riders of 3 Cambodia Star (D Barros), 6 Tagmaster (W L Ho), 8 Autumn Cloud (Y M Choi), 10 Georgian Ease (T Appie) and 11 Winnie Star (L Corrales). It was established that approaching the 1000 metres 3 Cambodia Star when leading raced greenly and slowed the pace of the race resulting in 10 Georgian Ease which was following becoming very awkward on its heels and shifted out bumping 11 Winnie Star which in turn shifted out bumping 6 Tagmaster. A short distance later 3 Cambodia Star continued to race greenly and shifted out taking 10 Georgian Ease outwards which resulted in 11 Winnie Star having to be checked and in turn shifted out making contact with 6 Tagmaster which was taken out onto 8 Autumn Cloud which had to be steadied. After considering all of the circumstances, in particular the racing manners of 3 Cambodia Star, the Stewards took no further action other than to place a warning on 3 Cambodia Star for its racing manners.
