Race Report

RACE-2 THE HAWKES BAY (Div. 1) RATING 45-20 (CLASS 4&5) 1500 METRES (255)
The race was rescheduled to start at 3:15pm.

3 Eclair Mirage (F Henrique) -Was marginally slow to begin. Approaching the 800 metres had to be eased away from the heels of 8 River God Choi which shifted in when not sufficiently clear. Apprentice C L Cheung the rider of 8 River God Choi was issued a severe reprimand and was advised he is to ensure he is sufficiently clear of runners when shifting ground in future.
4 Master Of Mars (W L Ho) -Rider reported that his mount failed to handle today’s track conditions. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
7 Highspot (J B Hamel) -Jumped outwards at the start and shortly after was buffeted between 5 Ocean Warrior and 2 Association Eight, both of which shifted ground. Jockey J B Hamel was issued a severe reprimand for failing to ride his mount out fully to the finish of the race. In arriving at their decision not to issue a more severe penalty, the Stewards took into account today’s inclement weather, the heavy track conditions and Jockey J B Hamel’s submissions with regards to his lack of visibility.
9 Infinite Treasure (M Tanaka) -Leaving the 1000 metres momentarily raced in restricted room to the inside of 4 Master Of Mars which was laying in.
