Race Report

RACE-1 THE JORDAN VALLEY (TURF) RATING 45-20 (CLASS 4&5) 1500 METRES (93)

1 Hostwin Apollo (W H Lao) -Was slow to begin (2L). Approaching the 600 metres was momentarily steadied when placed in restricted room. Rider explained that his mount was held up for some considerable distance approaching and passing the 400 metres, and after obtaining clear running after straightening, albeit working home to the line it was somewhat one paced.
2 Senior (L Corrales)- Beaten favorite. Rider could offer no real excuses for the performance today, other than to note that it failed to respond when placed under pressure.
3 Show Down (Apprentice Tesuri) -Struck the side of the barrier stall when the gates were released.
4 Winnie Star (K F Choi) -Rider reported that his mount was making an unusual respiratory noise on pulling up. Trainer W L Ho was informed to present 4 Winnie Star to the Veterinary Hospital for a thorough veterinary examination including an endoscopic examination on Sunday, 1 January 2023.
8 Goal Achiever (M Tanaka) -Commenced awkwardly, shifted out slightly and bumped 12 Run On Perfection. Raced wide before obtaining cover near the 800 metres. A post race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding had sustained a laceration to its right hind. Trainer K M Chin was informed that 8 Goal Achiever will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until such time that a veterinary certificate is produced.
9 Chak Chak (S Nakano) -Was slow to begin (2L).
10 Famous Rainbow (B Yamzon) -Was marginally slow to begin and was then inconvenienced by 5 Famous Nathan which shifted out slightly. Rounding the turn near the 1200 metres was hampered when placed in restricted room between 11 Lucky Star and 12 Run On Perfection which was taken in by 8 Goal Achiever. Raced keenly for some distance approaching the 1000 metres.
11 Lucky Star (Apprentice A Liu)- Raced keenly through the middle stages.
12 Run On Perfection (S H Huang) -Shifted in slightly on jumping and then became unbalanced when bumped by 8 Goal Achiever. Rounding the turn near the 1200 metres was buffeted when placed in restricted room between 11 Lucky Star and 8 Goal Achiever which shifted in slightly. Raced three wide without cover throughout.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into an incident rounding the home turn. Evidence was taken from the riders of 8 Goal Achiever (M Tanaka), 10 Famous Rainbow (B Yamzon), 12 Run On Perfection (S H Huang) and 11 Lucky Star (Apprentice A Liu). It was established that rounding the home turn 8 Goal Achiever shifted in slightly resulting in 12 Run On Perfection, 10 Famous Rainbow and 11 Lucky Star all being buffeted when placed in restricted room. Jockey M Tanaka the rider of 8 Goal Achiever was reprimanded and notified that he must exercise far more care when in similar circumstances in future.
