Race Report

RACE-5 THE KYOTO RATING 60-40 (CLASS 3&4) 1200 METRES (187)

1 Handsome Magnesium (L Corrales) - Was slightly slow to begin and shifted out marginally, then had to be steadied from heels of 7 Famous Jonathn which shifted in slightly. Dipped approaching the 200 metres and had a tendency to lay out from that point.
4 Dawson (Apprentice X C Liang) - Was slow to begin (1L). Performed below market expectations. Rider stated that his mount travelled well throughout the event, however weakened when put under pressure in the straight. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
5 Still Be Friends (C L Cheung) - Raced three wide without cover. Tactics queried (See inquiry report). Trainer K H Leong was informed that he would be required to present 5 Still Be Friends to the Veterinary Hospital for a thorough veterinary examination on Sunday, 2 April 2023.
10 Twotochoose (K F Choi) - From its wide barrier, was restrained and shifted behind runners to obtain a position on the rail. Approaching the 200 metres, shifted out abruptly to obtain a run to the outside of 1 Handsome Magnesium.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Stewards opened an inquiry into the tactics taken by 5 Still Be Friends. Evidence was taken from rider C L Cheung and Trainer K H Leong. Stewards adjourned the inquiry to Tuesday April 4, 2023 at 11 am.
