Race Report

RACE-4 THE ALBURY RATING 70-50 (CLASS 2&3) 1510 METRES (256)

1 Ka Ying Happy (Apprentice A Liu) - Threw its head as the gates were released and lost some ground. Approaching the 800 metres, was slightly inconvenienced when 8 Baby Shark (C Perkins) shifted in when not fully clear. C Perkins was reprimanded and notified he must be fully clear when shifting ground at all times. Raced three wide without cover for the majority.
2 City Gold (L Corrales) - Unplaced favorite. Rider stated that he was instructed to lead but his mount was one-paced throughout the race and did not respond when placed under pressure. For this reason he eased it down inside the 150 metres. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
3 Top Mountain God (C L Cheung) - Laid out rounding the home turn.
4 Qian Gua (S Nakano) - Shifted in when laying in in the early part of the straight. S Nakano was fined the sum of HKD 500 for failing to ride his mount fully to the winning post. Stewards were of the view that his actions did not affect the result of the race.
5 Military Strongman (M Tanaka) - Shortly after the start was momentarily crowded between 3 Top Mountain God and 2 City Gold which shifted in.
6 Run To Perfection (I Poullis) - Was a little slow to begin. Beaten 27 lengths. Rider stated that his mount did not feel right in its action and had lost a plate during the running of the race. Trainer W K Lam was informed that he would be required to present 6 Run To Perfection to the Veterinary Hospital for a thorough veterinary examination on Monday, 12 June 2023. In addition in view that 6 Run To Perfection had been beaten 27 lengths, it will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until such time that it has performed to the satisfaction of the Stewards in and official Barrier Trial.
7 Simon Fubuki (K H Yu) - On arrival at the barrier, the surcingle on the gelding had to be replaced.
8 Baby Shark (C Perkins) - Raced very keenly through the middle stages and raced four wide without cover until the 800 metres.
