Race Report

RACE-4 THE HILLSTON RATING 60-30 (CLASS 3&4) 1800 METRES (261)

1 Fortune Lady (Apprentice X C Liang) - Commenced awkwardly.
2 Lucky Chariot (K H Yu) - Was slightly slow to begin and was then bumped inwards by 7 Ronson, as a result had to be checked to avoid heels of 9 Twin Cam.
3 Bewarethewag (L Corrales) -Raced keenly in the back straight. Dipped in the going near the 700 metres.
5 Famous Anson (I Poullis) - Commenced awkwardly and lost a little ground. Rider stated that his mount failed to handle today’s heavy track conditions. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
7 Ronson (S H Huang) - Approaching the 600 metres improved close to the heels of 9 Twin Cam. Then attempted to shift out and improve between that gelding and 8 City Gold Master where there was insufficient room and as a result had to be restrained.
8 City Gold Master (C Perkins) - Laid in in the early part of the straight.
9 Twin Cam (C L Cheung) - C L Cheung was fined the sum of HKD 500 for failing to ride his mount fully to the winning post. Stewards were of the view that his actions did not affect the results of the race.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Stewards inquired into an incident passing the 1300 metres. C L Cheung, rider of 9 Twin Cam, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132(i) in that approaching the 1300 metres, he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of 2 Lucky Chariot, resulting in 2 Lucky Chariot having to be severely checked to avoid heels of 9 Twin Cam. C L Cheung had his license to ride in races suspended for 2 race days covering the meetings of Saturday 24 June and Sunday, 2 July 2023 and fined the sum of HKD 7,000. In issuing penalty, Stewards took into account the level of carelessness and interference, his guilty plea and C L Cheung’s careless riding record. He was advised of his rights of appeal.
