Race Report

RACE-1 THE SHATIN RATING 30-0 (CLASS 6) 1350 METRES (124)

2 Spicy Again (Apprentice L Li) -Shortly after passing the 800 metres, shifted in causing 1 Fortune Ahead to be eased and moved inwards resulting in 4 It's Mind Boggling checking and losing ground. (See inquiry)
3 Goahead (R Maia) -Near the 100 metres when struck with the whip, ducked out sharply causing 6 Topmountain to be checked and as a result stumbled dislodging Jockey C L Cheung who suffered a harmless fall. Jockey R Maia immediately stopped riding and straightened his mount. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
4 It's Mind Boggling (K Leung) -Shortly after passing the 800 metres was checked and lost ground. (See inquiry).
10 Guillocharm (I Poullis)-Knuckled at the start and then travel wide in the early stages of the race.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Stewards inquired into interference passing the 800 metres. Evidence was taken from the riders of 4 It's Mind Boggling (K Leung), 1 Fortune Ahead (L Corrales) and 2 Spicy Again (Apprentice L Li) and Trainer W L Ho the Master of Apprentice L Li. Apprentice L Li pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that passing the 800 metres, he failed to prevent 2 Spicy Again from shifting in when insufficiently clear of 1 Fortune Ahead which in turn was eased and taken in onto 4 It's Mind Boggling which had to be checked and lost ground. Apprentice L Li’s license to riding in races was suspended for 1 raceday covering the racemeeting of Saturday, 9th March 2024. In arriving at penalty the Stewards took into account his inexperience, it was his first offence and the mitigating factors. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
