Race Report

RACE-3 IACM LUNAR NEW YEAR TROPHY RATING 85-60 (CLASS 2) 1200 METRES (153)

2 Brave Panda (C Perkins) –Was marginally slow to begin. Jockey C Perkins was dislodged on pulling up. He was examined by the Club’s Medical Officer and passed fit to continue riding.
3 Just In Time (A Calder) –Trainer G Allendorf informed Stewards that from the wide barrier today, he would be instructing the rider to settle the gelding at the rear of the field in an endeavour to finish off the race. Was restrained from the barriers and settled at the rear of the field,however only ran on fairly.
5 Master Of Assayer (W L Ho) –Lay out in the straight under pressure. Jockey W L Ho the rider of 5 Master Of Assayer which performed below market expectations explained that he was instructed to lead on the gelding however it failed to muster sufficient speed and when placed under pressure rounding the turn failed to respond to his riding.
7 Easy Money (H Lam) –Raced four wide without cover.
8 Arabian Hawk (J Cordero) –Poor performance. Rider explained that the gelding is better suited when it leads. Today he was unable to do so and the gelding was further back and did not respond to his riding from the 600 metre mark. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.

10 Yanson (C F Wong) –Raced very keenly through the early and middle stages. When questioned regarding the improved performance of 10 Yanson, Assistant Trainer I K Chang representative of Trainer Pat Lee’s stables explained that the gelding was not particularly suited by the heavy track conditions at its last start and appreciated today’s firmer track conditions. He added that the drop in weight and the lack of speed in the event was beneficial to the gelding’s chances today.
11 I Told You So (Apprentice Y M Choi) –Shortly after the start shifted out and bumped 7 Easy Money and became unbalanced.
