Race Report

RACE-4 THE COVENTRY RATING 60-40 (CLASS 3&4) 1350 METRES (179)

4 Premier Choice (Y M Choi) -Jumped awkwardly. Leaving the 400 metres shifted out around the heels of 1 Chappo to improve resulting in 6 Grexit having to be checked. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
5 Grateful Favors (F Henrique) -Was slow to begin.
6 Grexit (L Corrales) -Jumped awkwardly at the start and was then buffeted between 2 White Debbie and 1 Chappo both of which shifted ground slightly, resulting in 6 Grexit becoming unbalanced and lost significant ground. After considering all of the circumstances, the Stewards took no further action. Leaving the 400 metres had to be checked off the heels of 4 Premier Choice which shifted out.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into an incident leaving the 400 metres where 6 Grexit had to be checked. Evidence was taken from Jockeys L Corrales the rider of 6 Grexit, Y M Choi the rider of 4 Premier Choice and F Henrique the rider of 5 Grateful Favors. Jockey Y M Choi the rider 4 Premier Choice pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that leaving the 400 metres he permitted his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of 6 Grexit which had to be checked. Jockey Y M Choi’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of one racemeeting to cover the meeting of Friday, 29 March 2019. In arriving at penalty, the Stewards took into account Jockey Choi’s good record, his guilty plea and the degree of carelessness.He was advised of his Right Of Appeal.
