Race Report

RACE-3 THE MILAN RATING 85-60 (CLASS 2) 1500 METRES (285)

2 Brilliant Debbie (Apprentice C L Cheung) -Bumped by 11 Magnapegasus on jumping away
3 Royal Garden (L Corrales) -Held up rounding the home turn.
4 Luen On Poseidon (F Henrique) -Near the 150 metres,had to be steadied when racing in restricted room to the inside of 6 Eclair Lightning which when held up and unable to establish clear running improved into a run where there was insufficient room between 1 Winter Snow and 4 Luen On Poseidon. After considering all of the circumstances, the Stewards issued Jockey S Nakano with a severe reprimand and was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances in future. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
5 River Control (R Maia) -Raced fiercely in the early and middle stages.
6 Eclair Lightning (S Nakano) -From the 350 metres was unable to establish clear running and went to the line without being fully tested. A post race swab was taken for analysis. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
7 Luen On Treasure (O Chavez) -On entering the home straight was held up and unable to establish clear running until leaving 250 metres.
9 Californiatreasure (S Ladjadj) -Crowded for room on jumping away between 6 Eclair Lightning and 1 Winter Snow, both of which shifted ground. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
11 Magnapegasus (T Appie) -On jumping away bumped 2 Brilliant Debbie.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into the ride of 6 Eclair Lightning (S Nakano) rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight. Evidence was taken from Jockey S Nakano and the trainer Mr. P Leyshan. Jockey S Nakano the rider of 6 Eclair Lightning pleaded guilty to a charge of under MJC Rule 132 (iii) in that he failed to ride his mount to the satisfaction of the Stewards. The particulars of the charge being that near the 350 metres when trailing 11 Magnapegasus (T Appie), he failed to take a run to the outside of that gelding which would have afforded 6 Eclair Lightning a clear and unimpeded run to the finish. As a result 6 Eclair Lightning was then held up and unable to establish clear running at any stage of the home straight and went to the line without fully being tested. Jockey S Nakano’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 6 racemeetings covering the meetings of 29 & 30 June and 6, 12, 13 & 20 July 2019. On arriving at penalty the Stewards took into account all of the mitigating factors, Jockey S Nakano’s guilty plea and his riding record. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
