Race Report

RACE-3 THE AFONSO ALBUQUERQUE RATING 95-70 (CLASS 1&2) 1510 METRES (21)

2 Hostwin Meraki (J B Hamel) -Raced wide without cover for the majority of the race.
5 Eclair Sunshine (Y M Choi) - Jumped away awkwardly. Rider was unable to offer any tangible explanation for the performance today other than that it never traveled comfortably. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Trainer K S Wong was informed that he would be required to present 5 Eclair Sunshine to the Veterinary Hospital for a thorough veterinary examination on Monday, 30 September 2019.
6 Oriental Profit (K K Lai) -Knuckled severely on jumping away almost dislodging Jockey K K Lai as a result, 6 Oriental Profit lost significant ground. Following the running of the race Jockey K K Lai was examined by the Club’s Medical Officer, was found to be suffering from a sore neck and was deemed unfit to continue riding. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
11 Ojala (S Ladjadj) -Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide without cover throughout.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Following the running of the race, the “Enquiry Sign” was semaphored to allow the Stewards an opportunity to review the video patrol films of the start to ascertain whether 1 Advance Mission (L Corrales) had been afforded a fair start. It was established that as the start was effected 1 Advance Mission stood flat footed of its own accord and as a result lost a significant amount of ground at the start. After considering all of the circumstances, the Stewards were satisfied that 1 Advance Mission had been afforded a fair start and as such it was declared a starter and correct weight was semaphored.
Trainers K C Tse/K S Ho were informed that in view of the barrier manners of 1 Advance Mission, it will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until such time that it performs to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official Barrier Trial.
