Race Report

RACE-3 THE CAMELLIA RATING 70+ (CLASS 1&2) 1350 METRES (262)

4 Hostwin Meraki (W L Ho) - Near the 1200 metres was taken wider on the track by 5 Mountain Tiger which was taken out by 7 Fortune Treasure which in turn was taken out by 2 Fasuba which shifted out when inclined to lay out.
5 Mountain Tiger (F Henrique) -On entering the home straight was momentarily hampered by 1 Pearl Green which shifted out slightly. Apprentice C L Cheung the rider of 1 Pearl Green was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances in future.
7 Fortune Treasure (S Nakano) -Approaching the 100 metres momentarily raced in restricted room between 4 Hostwin Meraki and 2 Fasuba which shifted out under pressure before being corrected by its rider. Jockey K H Yu the rider of 2 Fasuba was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances in future.
8 Simply Impeccable (W H Lao) -Was slow to begin. Raced wide without cover for the majority of the event. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
9 Oriental Profit (Y M Choi) -Raced wide without cover leaving 500 metres.
10 Smart Win (S Ladjadj) -Was slow to begin. Raced wide without cover for the majority of the event.A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
11 Tavezbac (C F Chan) -Was inspected by the Veterinary Surgeon behind the barriers at the Jockey’s request and passed fit to start. Stood flat footed and refused to jump taking no part in the race. Rider reported before the start as he had concerns with his mount’s action behind, he requested for the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon to conduct a pre race veterinary examination. He added that after being cleared to start and after being lead into the barriers, when the start was effected his mount was inclined to lean back in the barriers and stood flat footed refusing to jump. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Following the running of the race, the “Enquiry” sign was semaphored to allow the Stewards an opportunity to ascertain whether 11 Tavezbac was afforded a fair start. It was established that as the start was effected 11 Tavezbac stood flat footed, refused to jump and took no part in the race. The Stewards were satisfied that 11 Tavezbac had been afforded a fair start and correct weight declared. Trainer K M Chin was informed that in view of the barrier manners 11 Tavezbac will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until such time that it has performed to the satisfaction of the Stewards in two consecutive official Barrier Trials.
