Race Report

RACE-1 DRAGON BLOODSTOCK RACE RATING 45-25 (CLASS 4&5) 1500 METRES (19)

2 Aberdeen (A Calder) –Was very slow to begin (3L). Trainer M C Tam was informed that a warning has been placed against 2 Aberdeen and should it perform in a similar manner in future further action may be taken against it.

3 Diamond Admire (C Perkins)-Near the 350 metres was accidently struck over the head by the whip of D Chong, rider of 8 Explosive Blast which was racing tight to his inside. 3 Diamond Admire had a tendency to lay in in the straight resulting in the rider had difficulty in riding his mount out of his normal manner.

7 Glory Moment (K H Yu) –Jumped away awkwardly and brushed 1 Luen Yat Command. Raced very wide rounding the first turn. Approaching the winning post on the first occasion became unbalanced when placed in restricted room between 1 Luen Yat Command and 8 Explosive Blast. Poor performance. A post race veterinary examination ordered by the Stewards failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Rider was unable to offer any real explanation for this performance tonight.

8 Explosive Blast (D Chong) –Prior to the event Trainer K M Chin advised Stewards that the gelding resented the kick back from the sand. For this reason he will be instructing the rider to settle wider on the track than he normally would as he thought that this would be beneficial to the chances of the horse. Raced 5 wide throughout.

10 Double Success (W Smith) –Struck the inside gate on jumping away.

11 Gem Fighter (C F Chan) –Commencing the turn out of the straight, shifted out slightly then had to be steadied when placed in restricted room between 9 River Good Choice and 5 Modena World (R Stewart) which had its hindquarters turned forcing that gelding inwards.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Jockey L Salles the rider of 1 Luen Yat Command pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under provision of Rule 132 (i) in that approaching the 250 metres he permitted his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of 8 Explosive Blast (D Chong) which was tightened for room between 1 Luen Yat Command and 3 Diamond Admire and had to be checked. In laying the charge, Stewards acknowledged that there might have been a slight shift inwards from 8 Explosive Blast prior to this incident. Jockey L Salles was suspended from a period of 2 racemeetings (11 October 2015 and 17 October 2015). In arriving the penalty, the Stewards took into account his guilty plea and his recent record. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
