Race Report

RACE-5 THE CANTERBURY RATING 70-50 (CLASS 3) 1200 METRES (35)

1 Not A Single Help (R Stewart) –Trainer G Allendorf advised the Stewards that the gelding would be ridden off the pace today. Was ridden accordingly. The Stewards ordered a swab be taken from the gelding as it was the beaten favorite.
4 Great China (W L Ho) –Became unbalanced on jumping away after being bumped by 12 Yang Jiang Power. Over raced in the back straight.
5 Every May (A Calder) –Threw its head in the air when the gates were released and lost ground. For some distance approaching and passing the 400 metres was held up when unable to obtain a clear run.
6 Gunstigmaster (R Curatolo) –Shifted out on jumping away making contact with 3 Chinese Scholar. Raced very keenly through the mid stages. Rider was unable to offer any excuses for the gelding’s poor performance today. A post race veterinary examination ordered by the Stewards failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
8 So Sweet (W H Lao) –On jumping away was hampered when tightened between runners and lost ground.
9 Companion (W T Pao) –Raced wide throughout.
10 Correio (K W Leong) – Rider K W Leong explained that he had some difficulty in obtaining a run in the early stages of the straight and for this reason was unable to place his mount under full pressure until the 250 metres.
11 My Favourites (L Corrales) –Raced three wide without cover in the middle stages.
12 Yang Jiang Power (B Yamzon) – On jumping away shifted in and made heavy contact with 4 Great China.
