Race Report

RACE-6 THE OTAGO RATING 70-50 (CLASS 3) 1200 METRES (60)
1 Achilles Sword (A Calder) – Commencing the turn near the 800m had to be steadied when close to heels of 5 Windsor Arch Five.
2 Gauteng (K W Leong) –Jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.
5 Windsor Arch Five (W L Ho)-Prior to correct weight, the Stewards view the patrol video of the straight to acertain if there are grounds to loge an objection on behalf of the connections of 5th place getter 5 Windsor Arch Five against 6 Yang Jiang Power being declare the 3rd place getter. In viewing the film the Stewards were satisfied that there was not sufficient grounds for an objection. It was established that from the entrance to the straight 6 Yang Jiang Power shifted in taking 5 Windsor Arch Five in off its course and 5 Windsor Arch Five then raced tight to the inside of 6 Yang Jiang Power for some distance.
7 Kelowna Star (C Perkins) –Threw its head up after jumping away and lost some ground. Had a tendency to lay in for the majority of the race.
8 Chinese Scholar (W H Lao) –Checked near the 400 metres.
10 My Favourites (L Corrales) –Disappointing. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
11 Take My Breathaway (H Lam) –Was slow to muster speed. Commencing the turn near the 700 metres had to be steadied off the heels of 4 Ruling Elite which

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Jockey B Yamzon the rider of 6 Yang Jiang Power pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that near the 400 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficient clear of 8 Chinese Scholar (W H Lao) resulting in that gelding being tightened for room and losing its rightful running. Jockey Yamzon’s licence to ride was suspended for a period of two racemeetings covering the meetings of 27th and 28th November 2015. In arriving at penalty, the Stewards took into account his guilty plea, his good record and severity of the interference. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
