Race Report

RACE-3 SELANGOR TURF CLUB GOODWILL CUP RATING 70-50 (CLASS 3) 1000 METRES (99)

3 Rayden (L Salles) – Jockey L Salles reported that his mount laid in throughout.
6 Happy Cash (W T Pao) –Was marginally slow to begin. After passing 700 metres had to be restrained.
8 Hopefully Tomorrow (C Perkins) –Bounded in the air when the gates were released and lost ground.
10 Sweet Korean (C F Chan) –Near the 900 metres was placed in a restricted room between 3 Rayden (L Salles) and 2 Yang Jiang Power (W L Ho) which shifted out after being struck with the whip.
11 Chairman's Vote (R Curatolo) –Shifted in when the gates were released making heavy contact with 2 Yang Jiang Power (W L Ho) which had been taken out by 1 Special Kid (A Calder). As a result 11 Chairman's Vote became very unbalanced.
12 Excellent Brothers (H Lam) –Jumped away awkwardly. Then shifted out and brushed 9 Bo Bo So Great (J Cordero).

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Near the 700 metres 11 Chairman's Vote (R Curatolo) shifted out slightly taking 10 Sweet Korean (C F Chan) out onto the hindquarters of 3 Rayden (L Salles). 3 Rayden was then turned inwards and became unbalanced resulting in 10 Sweet Korean being tightened between that gelding and 11 Chairman's Vote and having to be checked.

Jockey R Curatolo the rider of 11 Chairman's Vote was pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under his provision of MJC Rule 132(i) in that near 600 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of 4 Charming Beijing (C F Wong) which was taken in across the running of 6 Happy Cash (W T Pao) which lost its rightful running and had to be checked. Jockey R Curatolo’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 3 racemeetings covering the meetings of 16th, 23rd, and 29th January 2016. The Stewards took into account his poor recent record, his guilty plea, the severity of the interference and a degree of carelessness. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
