Race Report

RACE-1 THE MARSEILLE RATING 30-0 (CLASS 5&6) 1500 METRES (133)

1 King Me (K K Lai) – A post race veterinary at the request of the rider revealed that it was lame in the left foreleg. Trainer M C Tam was informed that 1 King Me will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until a veterinary clearance is produced.
2 Double Up (W L Ho) –Leaving the straight on the first occasion had to be steadied and shifted out to avoid the heels of 1 King Me which was taken out by 4 Rockin Laser which shifted out slightly. Over the concluding stages had to be steadied when taken inwards by 8 Kao's Star which shifted in. Jockey D Chong the rider of Kao's Star was advised that he would be required to exercise more care when in similar circumstances in future. Jockey W L Ho the rider of 2 Double Up which performed below market expectations stated that he struck some interference commencing the turn out of the straight, however could not offer any further reasons for the performance today. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
3 Big Success (L Salles) – Was marginally slow to begin. Raced four wide without cover throughout the event.
4 Rockin Laser (J Cordero) –Was slow to muster speed. Raced wide without cover for the majority of the race. Near the 600 metres shifted in when laying in and had to be checked off the heels of 3 Big Success.
5 Golden Commandment (A Calder) –Struck the outside gate on jumping away and lost ground. Raced keenly through the early stages.
6 Active Power (O Doleuze) –Rider O Doleuze advised the Stewards that he believed the gelding might be better suited over a shorter distance than tonight’s 1500 metres. He was reprimanded for dropping his whip near the 250 metre mark.
8 Kao's Star (D Chong) –Shortly after the start was bumped by 5 Golden Commandment which shifted out, and as a result became unbalanced.
