Race Report

RACE-3 THE NANCHANG RATING 70-50 (CLASS 3) 1200 METRES (172)

2 Master Of Cheers (C Perkins) – Hampered near the 900 metres. Performed below market expectations. Rider was of the view that the disappointing performance was attributable to interference his mount suffered near the 900 metres. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality and a swab sample was taken for analysis.
4 Charity Group (J Cordero) –Threw its head in the air when the gates were released and lost ground. Disappointing performance. Rider reported that his mount was unable to muster speed to keep in touch with the field. He added that in his opinion his mount would be better suited over a longer distance. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
5 Innoalloy (H Lam) –Was slow to begin. Raced four wide without cover. Approaching the winning post shifted out after being struck with the whip and bumped 8 Rayden.
6 Mission Gdragon (W L Ho) – Raced keenly throughout the middle stages and dipped on a number of occasions. Shortly after the start became unbalanced when tightened for room between 2 Master Of Cheers and 7 Not A Single Help which shifted in before being straightened by its rider.
7 Not A Single Help (A Aucharuz) –Was kicked behind the barriers by another runner. Was then examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to race. Knuckled shortly after the start.
8 Rayden (R Curatolo) –For some distance near the 400 metres was held up when unable to improve its position. 4th placedgetter, Jockey R Curatolo will be reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts at least and hands and heels to the finish. The Stewards believed that Jockey R Curatolo’s action did not affect the result of the race.
9 Windsor Arch Five (L Corrales) –Approaching the 350 metres was unable to improve its position. Cast its right fore plate during the running of the race.
10 Impeccable Genius (B Yamzon) –Checked approaching the 900 metres.
12 Sharon Star (C F Wong) –Near the 250 metres had to be steadied and shifted to the inside of 2 Master Of Cheers which shifted out abruptly to obtain clear running. Jockey C Perkins was advised that he must exercise more care when in similar circumstances in future.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Jockey R Curatolo the rider of 8 Rayden was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under the provisions of MJC Rule 132(i) in that for some distance approaching and passing the 900 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of 6 Mission Gdragon (W L Ho) which was tightened onto 2 Master Of Cheers (C Perkins) which in turn was taken in tightening 1 Arabian Hawk (A Calder) which lost its rightful running and had to be checked. 10 Impeccable Genius (B Yamzon) was also checked as a consequence. Jockey R Curatolo’s licence to ride was suspended for a period of three racemeetings to cover the meeting of 11th, 12th and 19th of March 2016. In considering the penalty, the Stewards took into account his poor record under this rule, the degree of interference and other mitigating circumstances. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
