Race Report

RACE-2 THE HUANGSHI RATING 45-25 (CLASS 4&5) 1500 METRES (177)

1 Tiger Exceed (W H Lao) –Near the 1100 metres was steadied for some distance when close to heels. Jockey W H Lao explained that his mount which was disappointing was not suited by the big weight tonight, was not entirely comfortable with kick back, failed to stretch out and did not respond to his riding when put under pressure.
2 Four Season Health (B Yamzon) –Shifted in on jumping away making contact with 7 Gem Lucky Star and as a result became unbalanced.
4 Gem Fighter (L Corrales) –Shortly after the start had to be steadied to avoid the heels of 10 Hand By Hand which shifted in
5 Golden Harbour (O Doleuze) - After passing the 300 metres shifted in and brushed 8 Luen Yat Command and became unbalanced momentarily.
6 Hostwin Helios (K K Lai) –On jumping away was bumped by 9 Win Perfectly which shifted out.
11 Modena Success (A Aucharuz) – Approaching the 900 metres was taken wider on the track by 4 Gem Fighter which shifted out to avoid the heels of 1 Tiger Exceed which had shifted out. Jockey W H Lao the rider of 1 Tiger Exceed was advised that he must be clear of runners when shifting ground at all times. Poor performance. Rider reported that the gelding did not travel well at any stage of the race. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
12 St Pedder (A Calder) –Was resaddled on arrival at the barriers.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Jockey A Calder the rider of 12 St Pedder was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under the provisions of Rule 132 (i) in that after passing the 1100 metres permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of 7 Gem Lucky Star (D Chong) which had to be checked. Jockey Calder’s licence to ride was suspended for a period of two racemeetings covering the meetings of 19th and 25th March 2016. In arriving at penalty, the Stewards took into account his plea, his very good record and the degree of the interference which they deemed the carelessness to be in the low range. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
