Race Report

RACE-1 THE TORONTO RATING SPECIAL (SPECIAL) 1350 METRES (200)

This race was rescheduled to start at 2:05pm.

1 Cali Fortune (C F Wong) –Shortly after the start raced tight with 7 Bunce which shifted in. Raced keenly in the early stages.
2 Gauteng (K W Leong) –Was resaddled on arrival at the barriers. Raced keenly in the back straight.
4 General's Steed (C Perkins) –Near the 1300 metres was steadied momentarily to avoid the heels of 10 Yu Long Glory which shifted out slightly.
5 Holy Ascension (O Doleuze) –When questioned Jockey O Doleuze explained that he had been instructed to search for better ground due to today’s rain affected conditions and that it was always his intentions, after testing the track during the preliminary, to come wide rounding the home turn and in the straight as he was of the opinion the going was superior out wide. Jockey O Doleuze was spoken to advisedly in regards to his making a celebratory gesture prior to the winning post.
7 Bunce (L Salles) –Approaching the 1100 metres had to be steadied when tightened for room between 1 Cali Fortune and 3 Gold Selection which shifted in slightly. Jockey R Curatolo the rider of 3 Gold Selection was reminded of his obligations that he must be fully clear of other runners when shifting ground.
10 Yu Long Glory (W T Pao) –Raced wide without cover. Hung out rounding the home turn and at the 200 metres shifted in abruptly after being struck with the whip. Disappointing performance. Rider reported that the gelding raced very greenly and from the 600 metres had a tendency to run out away from inside runners. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Trainer K C Chong was informed that in view of its racing manners 10 Yu Long Glory will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until it has performed satisfactorily in a Barrier Trial.
