Race Report

RACE-6 THE HAMAMATSU RATING 70-50 (CLASS 2&3) 1350 METRES (236)

1 My Club (M Cangas) –Raced four wide without cover.
3 Speed On (C Perkins) –Pulled very hard in during the early and middle stages. When questioned Jockey C Perkins explained that he had been instructed to jump well, then find cover as his horse was stepping up in distance to 1350 metres and he was of the belief that if he went forward, as it had done in sprint races, 3 Speed On would not be able to finish off the race. He added that after beginning well and that it was his intention to drop in behind 1 My Club to obtain cover, however that gelding was being steadied by its rider in front of him, and 3 Speed On then commenced to over race badly, so for this reason he shifted wider on the track passing the 900 metres. He further added that he was then able to obtain some cover rounding the home turn when his mount started to race more tractably and he was pleased with the way it finished off the event bearing in mind its over racing in the middle stages.
4 Chinese Dream (B Yamzon) –Jumped away very awkwardly.
5 Golden Spiritual (C F Wong) – Was marginally slow to begin then shifted in and bumped 9 Peace Get Lucky and lost ground. From that point on failed to maintain contact with the field and performed poorly. Rider C F Wong reported that he received some interference early in the race and from that point his mount failed to respond to his riding. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Trainer K C Chong was informed to present the gelding to the Veterinary Clinic for a thorough veterinary examination on Saturday, 23rd April 2016.
9 Peace Get Lucky (C F Chan) –Was marginally slow to begin and was then hampered when tightened for room between 5 Golden Spiritual and 6 Ruling Elite. Rider C F Chan reported that after suffering interference early in the event, never travelled well and for this reason he eased it down over the concluding stages.
