Race Report

RACE-3 THE PHOENIX RATING 60-40 (CLASS 3&4) 1500 METRES (245)

2 My Dream (J Cordero) – Disappointing performance. Rider J Cordero reported that the gelding travelled well in the early and middle stages and when placed under full pressure leaving the 600 metres responded, however approaching the 200 metres the gelding’s run had ended. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
4 Priceless Treasure (C F Chan) –Blundered when the gates were released unbalancing its rider and as a result lost ground. C F Chan the rider of 4 Priceless which performed poorly reported that after an awkward start, his mount never travelled at any stage of the race and trailed the field throughout despite his urgings. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
5 Elderly Paradise (A Calder) – Disappointing performance. Rider A Calder reported that the gelding travelled well throughout the race, however when placed under pressure in the straight failed to quicken and was one paced to the finish. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
8 Vancouver Jaguar (W T Pao) – Raced three wide without cover. The whip of rider W T Pao was accidently knocked out of his hand after passing the 300 metres when racing tight to the outside of 1 Nata Way.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Following the running of the race, the “Enquiry Sign” was semaphored. The Stewards viewed the patrol video of the straight to ascertain whether there were any grounds to lodge an objection on behalf of the connections of the 4th place getter, 1 Nata Way (B Yamzon) against 8 Vancouver Jaguar (W T Pao) being declared 3rd placed getter. It was established that in the straight 8 Vancouver Jaguar had a tendency to lay in and that near the 150 metres it brushed 1 Nata Way and again after passing the 100 metres brushed 1 Nata Way. As Stewards were not satisfied that the interference warranted a reversal of the placings, “Correct Weight” was declared.
