Race Report

RACE-1 THE TAISHAN RATING 55-0 (CLASS 4,5&6) 1000 METRES (308)

1 Rider Navigator (L Salles) –Shifted out on jumping away and lost ground. Performed below market expectations. Rider reported that in his opinion his mount did not appreciate the firm track today. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
2 Her Time (K H Yu) –On jumping away was buffeted for a number of strides between 4 Cheerful Fish and 5 Winner Fortune and as a result lost ground. Shortly after this was hampered by 4 Cheerful Fish which shifted out slightly. Rider was informed that he must ride all his mounts at least hands and heels to the finish whenever possible. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
6 The Imperial (A Aucharuz) –Raced wide without cover throughout.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Jockey Y M Choi the rider of 5 Winner Fortune pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of MJC Rule 132 (i) in that after passing the 800 metres he failed to make sufficient effort to prevent his mount from shifting in resulting in 2 Her Time (K H Yu) being tightened and having to be severely checked. Jockey Choi had his licence to ride in races suspended for a period of three racemeetings to cover the meetings of 9th, 16th and 17th July 2016. This suspension to be served cumulatively with that imposed on Friday, 24th June 2016 and he may resume riding on Sunday, 24th July 2016. In arriving at penalty, the Stewards took into account his guilty plea and that he was suspended last night, the high degree of carelessness and the severity of the incident. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
