Race Report

RACE-2 THE AINTREE RATING 45-0 (CLASS 4&5) 1800 METRES (375)

3 Gold On (J Cordero) –Was marginally slow to begin and had to be steadied when tightened for room between 8 Auspicious Dragon and 6 Simple Mind which shifted out and away from 5 Windsor Arch. During this incident clipped the heels of 6 Simple Mind.
5 Windsor Arch (W H Lao) –Cast its left front plate and had to be reshod behind the barriers. Threw its head up when the gates were released. Raced wide without cover throughout. When questioned Trainer K C Chong stated that his instructions to Jockey W H Lao were to settle the horse where it was comfortable and save ground. Jockey W H Lao explained that through the first 600 metres of the race his mount did not travel well when close to the rail and for this reason he elected to shift to a position wider on the track without cover entering the back straight where his mount then commenced to race more tractably.
7 Laughing World (A Aucharuz) –Raced keenly in the back straight. When questioned regarding the apparent improved performance of 7 Laughing World, Trainer K C Chong explained that he attributed the improved performance to the lower class event and the step up in distance to the 1800 metres. He highlighted that the gelding performs well when able to lead and due to the lack of speed in the event, the gelding being able to lead on its own terms today.
8 Auspicious Dragon (R Curatolo) –Got its head up when being restrained passing the winning post on the first occasion. Approaching the 1300 metres got its head up when being restrained to avoid the heels of 1 Windsor Arch Three which shifted in when not quite clear. Jockey W Smith the rider of 1 Windsor Arch Three was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.
