Race Report

RACE-5 THE DETROIT RATING 70-50 (CLASS 2&3) 1350 METRES (163)

3 Gunstigmaster (C F Chan) –Jumped awkwardly. Near the 600 metres had to be steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of 4 Wonder Holy.
5 Chok King (R Maia) – Rounding the home turn was held up and unable to improve. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
9 Grateful Favors (K H Yu) –Near the 300 metres was eased when tightened for room between 2 Ashkari which was inclined to lay in and 7 Falcoshow which shifted out slightly. After considering all of the circumstances, the Stewards took no further action.
10 Mackinac Island (A Aucharuz) –Raced wide without cover throughout.
11 Double Heaven (R Curatolo) –Stood flat footed at the start and lost significant ground. Trainer M C Tam was informed that the gelding will not be permitted to race for 11 days and will be required to performed satisfactorily in an official Barrier Trial.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The “Enquiry” sign was semaphored following the running of the race to afford the Stewards the opportunity to view the official patrol film of the start to establish whether 11 Double Heaven (R Curatolo) had been afforded a fair start. It was established that as the start was effected 11 Double Heaven stood flat footed and lost significant ground. The Stewards were satisfied that 11 Double Heaven had been afforded a fair start and as such Correct Weight was declared.
