RACE-1 THE PRAIA GRANDE (DIV. 2) RATING 40-0 (CLASS 5&6) 1200 METRES (371)
1 Electroforming Run (C F Chan) -Bumped by 2 Heng Feng Star on jumping away and hung out abruptly despite the efforts of its rider. Near the 1100 metres raced ungenerously and shifted out making contact with the hindquarters of 11 Impeccable Genius which became unbalanced. Thereafter continued to race ungenerously and near the 1000 metres had to be eased off the heels of 11 Impeccable Genius which shifted in. Jockey H Lam the rider of 11 Impeccable Genius was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances in future. Rider reported that his mount which was having its first start, raced greenly, hung out severely and did not feel right in its action and as such he eased it out of the race at the 400 metres. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Trainer J Lau was informed that he would be required to present 1 Electroforming Run to the Veterinary Hospital for a thorough veterinary examination on Sunday, 25 August 2019.
2 Heng Feng Star (K Leung) - Jumped away awkwardly and bumped 1 Electroforming Run. Over the concluding stages momentarily raced in restricted room between 9 Anak and 12 Easy Thai, both of which shifted ground. As the Stewards could not portion blame to any one rider, they took no further action other than to advise all riders to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
3 House Of Happiness (Y M Choi) -Jumped awkwardly, shifted out and bumped 12 Easy Thai. Checked shortly after the start. Near the 700 metres when the pace of the race slowed when 6 Filial Piety was steadied to allow 4 Moral Integrity to cross, 3 House Of Happiness raced fiercely on the heels of 6 Filial Piety and had to be checked. Near the 500 metres continued to race fiercely and improved into a run where there was insufficient room between 11 Impeccable Genius and 6 Filial Piety which rolled out slightly and a result had to be checked when awkwardly placed on the heels of 6 Filial Piety.
5 Special Steel (W L Ho) - A post race veterinary examination revealed that it was lame in the left foreleg. Trainer C F Chan was informed that 5 Special Steel will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until such time a veterinary clearance is produced.
7 Diamond Stellar (O Chavez) - Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide without cover throughout.
8 Sweet Bumhan (J B Hamel) -Jumped away awkwardly.
9 Anak (L Corrales) -Knuckled on jumping away. Raced fiercely in the early and middle stages.
10 River Bubble (K Mizuno) -Checked shortly after the start.
11 Impeccable Genius (H Lam) -Near the 1100 metres became unbalanced when its hindquarters were bumped by 1 Electroforming Run which when racing ungenerously shifted out. Raced fiercely in the early and middle stages.
RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into a racing incident shortly after the start whereby 3 House Of Happiness and 10 River Bubble had to be checked. After taking evidence from the riders of 1 Electroforming Run (C F Chan), 3 House Of Happiness (Y M Choi), 6 Filial Piety (R Maia), 10 River Bubble (K Mizuno), 11 Impeccable Genius (H Lam) and 12 Easy Thai (K K Lai) and viewing the patrol films, it was established that a short distance after the start, 3 House Of Happiness had to be checked when tightened for room between 6 Filial Piety which shifted in marginally and 10 River Bubble which was checked when taken out by 11 Impeccable Genius which in turn was taken out abruptly by 1 Electroforming Run which after being bumped by 2 Heng Feng Star on jumping away hung out abruptly despite the efforts of Jockey C F Chan. After considering all of the circumstances and in particular the racing manners of 1 Electroforming Run which was having its first start at the point of the incident, the Stewards took no action against any riders, however Trainer J Lau was informed that 1 Electroforming Run will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until such time that it has performed satisfactorily in an official Barrier Trial.
The Stewards inquired into an incident near the 100 metres whereby 11 Impeccable Genius had to be checked. Evidence was taken from the riders of 11 Impeccable Genius (H Lam) and 9 Anak (L Corrales). Jockey L Corrales the rider of 9 Anak reserved his plea to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that near the 100 metres he failed to make sufficient effort to prevent his mount from shifting out when insufficiently clear of 11 Impeccable Genius which had to be checked. Jockey L Corrales was subsequently found guilty of the charge and was suspended from riding in races for one racemeeting being Saturday, 5 October 2019. In arriving at penalty the Stewards took into account his reserved plea, his riding record and that the degree of the interference. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
