Race Report

RACE-6 THE BLACKBURN (DIV.2) RATING 70-50 (CLASS 2&3) 1350 METRES (85)

1 Royal Master (T Appie) -Near the 1300 metres had to be eased when crowded for room between 10 Special Charger which shifted in and 6 Tagmaster which was taken out by 2 Trophy Cabinet which shifted out slightly away from 7 The Happy Prince which rolled out marginally. After considering all of the circumstances and as the Stewards could not portion blame to any one rider, they took no further action.
2 Trophy Cabinet (R Maia) -Raced greenly in the early stages
3 Association One (Apprentice C L Cheung) -Bumped with 5 Golden Double on jumping away. Had to be checked near the 900 metres. Near the 500 metres was forced wider on the track by 7 The Happy Prince which shifted out around the heels of 10 Special Charger to improve.
4 The Macallan (B Yamzon) -Was slow to begin.
5 Golden Double (Y M Choi) -Bumped with 3 Association One on jumping away.
6 Tagmaster (C F Chan) -Near the 1300 metres had to be steadied away from the heels of 2 Trophy Cabinet which shifted out slightly and way from 7 The Happy Prince which rolled out marginally. After considering all of the circumstances, the Stewards took no further action.
9 One Belt One Road (O Chavez) -A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality. Trainer S H Cheong was informed that 9 One Belt One Road which was beaten in excess of 32 lengths will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until such time that it has performed to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official Barrier Trial.
10 Special Charger (H Lam) -Was slow to begin. Raced wide without cover until near the 700 metres.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into an incident near the 900 metres whereby 3 Association One had to be checked. Evidence was taken from the riders of 2 Trophy Cabinet (R Maia), 3 Association One (Apprentice C L Cheung) and 9 One Belt One Road (O Chavez). Jockey R Maia the rider of 2 Trophy Cabinet was found guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that near the 900 metres he failed to make sufficient effort to prevent his mount from shifting out when insufficiently clear of 3 Association One which had to be checked. Jockey R Maia’s license to ride in races was suspended for one racemeeting covering the meeting of Saturday, 7 December 2019. In arriving at penalty, the Stewards took into account his riding record, the degree of the interference and his submissions regarding his mount’s racing manners. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
