Race Report

RACE-2 THE MIDDLESBROUGH (DIV2) RATING 55-30 (CLASS 4) 1200 METRES (50)

1 For Community (D Barros) -Bumped with 6 Yings Fans on jumping away. Near the 1000 metres when inclined to lay out brushed with 6 Yings Fans and continued to lay out despite the efforts of its rider. Was inclined to lay out rounding the home turn and near the 150 metres shifted out abruptly and away from 7 Ventures Elite which shifted out to improve. After taking into account the racing manners of 1 For Community throughout the race, Trainer S Chow was informed that a warning had been placed on the gelding in relation to its racing manners.
3 Harvest Year (K H Yu) -Near the 1000 metres had to be eased away from the heels of 8 Deep Brother which was laying in when racing greenly. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
4 Heat Of The Battle (C L Cheung) -Near the 150 metres had to be checked away from the heels of 1 For Community which after being brushed by 7 Ventures Elite shifted out abruptly and away from that runner which shifted out to obtain clear running after being awkwardly placed on the heels of 5 Roaring Fans which shifted out under pressure. After considering all of the circumstances and in particular the racing manners of 1 For Community and the shift outwards from 5 Roaring Fans, the Stewards took no further action other than to advise Jockey W H Lao the rider of 5 Roaring Fans and Jockey B Yamzon the rider of 7 Ventures Elite to exercise more care in similar circumstances in future. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
5 Roaring Fans (W H Lao) -The Stewards issued Jockey W H Lao the rider of 5 Roaring Fans with a severe reprimand for falling to ride his mount out fully to the finish of the race. In arriving at this decision, the Stewards were satisfied that this had no bearing on the overall placings of the the race.
6 Yings Fans (T Appie) -Bumped with 1 For Community on jumping away. Leaving the 1000 metres raced in restricted room and had to be steadied between 4 Heat Of The Battle which shifted in slightly and 1 For Community which after brushing with 6 Yings Fans shifted out when inclined to lay out. After considering all of the circumstances, the Stewards took no further action other than to place a warning against 1 For Community with regards to its racing manners. Near the 750 metres was inclined to lay out and had to be steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of 4 Heat Of The Battle.
8 Deep Brother (S Nakano) -For some distance after the start hung out. Thereafter raced greenly throughout and at times raced fiercely. Near the 900 metres when continuing to race greenly had to be steadied away from the heels of 5 Roaring Fans which shifted in when not fully clear. Jockey W H Lao the rider of 5 Roaring Fans was issued with a severe reprimand and advised that he is to ensure he is sufficiently clear of runners when shifting ground.
