Race Report

RACE-3 THE BOURNEMOUTH RATING 85-60 (CLASS 2) 1200 METRES (86)

1 Royal Garden (B Yamzon) -Near the 750 was checked. Raced wide rounding the home turn.
3 Gorgeous Bomb (J B Hamel) -On entering the home straight brushed with 6 You Are The Best which shifted in.
4 Circuit Master (F Henrique) -Raced fiercely in the early stages and near the 900 metres had to be steadied away the heels of 13 Rivalry. Then continued to race fiercely for some distance thereafter. Over the concluding stages shifted in abruptly and had to be corrected by its rider.
5 Loxwood (L Corrales) -Leaving the 1000 metres commenced to race fiercely and proved difficult to settle and near the 750 metres when continuing to race fiercely had to be steadied away from the heels of 2 Oneofthegreats which shifted in when not fully clear. Whilst the Stewards noted the racing manners of 5 Loxwood leading up to and at the point of the incident, they nevertheless issued Jockey W L Ho the rider of 2 Oneofthegreats with a reprimand and he was advised to ensure he is sufficiently clear of runners when shifting ground.
6 You Are The Best (K H Yu) -Raced fiercely in the early stages. On entering the home straight shifted in and brushed 3 Gorgeous Bomb. A post race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding was lame in the right foreleg. Trainer Y C Fung was informed that 6 You Are The Best will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until such time that a veterinary certificate is produced.
8 Beauty Bolt (M Tanaka) -Was slow to begin. In the home straight had some difficulty in obtaining clear running until near the 150 metres.
11 Casino Mok (C L Cheung) -Raced wide without cover throughout.
12 Mission Gdragon (D Barros) -Was slow to begin.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into a racing incident near the 750 metres whereby 1 Royal Garden was checked. Evidence was taken from the riders of 1 Royal Garden (B Yamzon) and 9 Still So Cute (S Nakano). Jockey S Nakano the rider of 9 Still So Cute pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that near the 750 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of 1 Royal Garden which had to be checked and lost its rightful running. Jockey S Nakano’s license to ride in races was suspended for one racemeeting, covering the meeting of Saturday, 16 January 2021. In arriving at penalty, the Stewards took into account Jockey S Nakano’s guilty plea, his disciplinary record and the degree of interference. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
