Race Report

RACE-1 THE YUNFU RATING 45-20 (CLASS 4&5) 1500 METRES (350)

1 City Hunter (J B Hamel) -Cast its right front plate.
2 Fortune Flyer (B Yamzon) -A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
3 River Pentium (K H Yu) -Shortly after the start commenced to race fiercely after being struck with the whip and near the 1400 metres had to be steadied away from the heels of 6 Mountain Eagle (M Tanaka) which shifted in when not fully clear. After considering all of the circumstances, the Stewards issued Jockey M Tanaka the rider of 6 Mountain Eagle a severe reprimand and he was advised that he is to ensure he is sufficiently clear of runners when shifting ground at all times.
5 Wealthy Sun (L Corrales) -A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
8 Manson (S H Huang) -Jumped away awkwardly. Near the 1350 metres shifted out and away from 3 River Pentium and then had to be steadied when awkwardly place on the heels of 10 Luen On Prodigy which at the same time shifted in slightly. As the Stewards deemed this a racing incident, no further action was taken.
10 Luen On Prodigy (C L Cheung) -Checked near the 1200 metres. Near the 250 metres was obliged to alter course inwards across the heels of 8 Manson which shifted out under pressure.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into an incident near the 1200 metres where 10 Luen On Prodigy was checked and lost ground. Evidence was taken from the riders of 10 Luen On Prodigy (C L Cheung), 4 Dutch Shell (F Henrique) and 8 Manson (S H Huang). Jockey F Henrique the rider of 4 Dutch Shell pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that near the 1200 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of 10 Luen On Prodigy which had to be checked and lost ground.
Jockey F Henrique was issued a monetary fine of HK$18,000 in lieu of a 3 racemeeting suspension. In arriving at penalty the Stewards took into consideration his guilty plea, his disciplinary record, the degree of interference and all mitigating factors. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
