RACE-4 THE BASTIA RATING 60-35 (CLASS 3&4) 1500 METRES (126)
1 Hot Spring Project (K F Choi) -Rounding the first turn brushed 8 Wo Hero. Checked near the 600 metres.
2 Eclair Boom (L Corrales) -Brushed with 9 Goal Achiever on jumping away. Near the 600 metres was taken wider on the track by 9 Goal Achiever which shifted out after being checked. Raced wide rounding the home turn.
3 Turquoise Square (H Lam) -Near the 250 metres shifted in slightly when laying in and brushed with 10 Numberone Mingxuan, which at the same time shifted out when laying out under pressure. From the 250 metres until near the 50 metres was taken wider on the track by 10 Numberone Mingxuan which continued to shift out under pressure whilst being ridden along and approaching the 100 metres was brushed by 10 Numberone Mingxuan. The Stewards issued Jockey W H Lao the rider of 10 Numberone Mingxuan a severe reprimand and he was advised that in similar circumstances he would be expected to make a greater effort to prevent his mount from shifting ground.
4 Rubick Kingdom (S Nakano) -A post race veterinary examination revealed that 4 Rubick Kin had suffered bleeding attack. Trainer G Allendorf was informed that the standard stand down period (7 days training/21 days racing) applies and before being permitted to race again, 4 Rubick Kingdom will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official Barrier Trial and a veterinary certificate must be produced.
5 Run On Perfection (C L Cheung) -Was slow to begin. Raced fiercely rounding the first turn and had to be steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of 3 Turquoise Square. Checked near the 600 metres.
6 Turquoise Success (K H Yu) -Raced fiercely in the early and middle stages.
8 Wo Hero (A A Rivera) -Was brushed by 1 Hot Spring rounding the first turn. Raced wide without cover throughout.
9 Goal Achiever (T Appie) -Brushed with 2 Eclair Boom on jumping away. Rounding the first turn was taken wider on the track by 4 Rubick Kingdom which shifted out slightly. Checked near the 600 metres.
10 Numberone Mingxuan (W H Lao) -Near the 250 metres shifted out and brushed with 3 Turquoise Square which at the same time shifted in slightly when laying in. Was then inclined to shift out under pressure over the final 250 metres and near the 100 metres brushed 3 Turquoise Square.
RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Following the running of the race the “Enquiry” sign was semaphored and at the same time the Stewards considered an objection lodged by Jockey H Lam the rider of 3 Turquoise Square, 2nd placed horse against 10 Numberone Mingxuan (W H Lao) being declared the winner by the Judge for alleging interference in the home straight. Evidence was taken from Jockeys H Lam and W H Lao and Mr. S Cheong the trainer of 10 Numberone Mingxuan and Mr. Lam Hong, Assistant Trainer representing Mr. K C Tse and Mr. K S Ho the trainers of 3 Turquoise Square. It was established that near the 250 metres 3 Turquoise Square shifted in slightly when laying in and brushed with 10 Numberone Mingxuan which at the same time shifted out when laying out under pressure. From the 250 metres until near the 50 metres 3 Turquoise Square was then taken wider on the track by 10 Numberone Mingxuan which continued to shift out under pressure whilst being ridden along and approaching the 100 metres was brushed by 10 Numberone Mingxuan. After taking into consideration all the mitigating factors and the official margin of a neck, the Stewards could not be fully satisfied that had the interference not taken place, 3 Turquoise Square would have beaten 10 Numberone Mingxuan and as such they dismissed the objection and correct weight was semaphored on the Judge’s placings.
The Stewards inquired into a racing incident near the 600 metres where 1 Hot Spring Project, 5 Run On Perfection and 9 Goal Achiever were checked. Evidence was taken from riders of 1 Hot Spring Project (K F Choi), 5 Run On Perfection (C L Cheung), 8 Wo Hero (A A Rivera) and 9 Goal Achiever (T Appie). Jockey A A Rivera the rider of 8 Wo Hero was found guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that near the 600 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of 1 Hot Spring Project which had to be checked and was taken in onto 5 Run On Perfection which also had to be checked. 9 Goal Achiever which was following was checked in consequence. Jockey A A Rivera’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 2 racemeetings covering the meetings of Saturday, 5 March and Friday, 11 March 2022. In arriving at penalty, the Stewards took into account his riding record, the degree of interference and all mitigating factors. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
