Race Report

RACE-2 THE CASTERDON RATING 55-30 (CLASS 4) 1500 METRES (249)

2 Bewarethewag (K F Choi) - Was inconvenienced and taken wider after passing the 200 metres by 4 Handsome Alloy.
3 Fortune Lady (Apprentice X C Liang) - On jumping away, became unbalanced after being bumped by 7 Iu Cheong Master which shifted out.
4 Handsome Alloy (Apprentice A Liu) - Raced wide throughout. Passing the 200 metres, was hampered and then checked to avoid heels. (See inquiry report) A Liu explained when questioned that his mount, after receiving interference, was laying in and on one rein, and for this reason he did not ride it fully to the winning post.
7 Iu Cheong Master (L Corrales) - Raced keenly through the early stages. Beaten favorite. Rider stated that his mount laid out throughout the race and in his opinion was shying away from the runners to his inside, and failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure in the straight.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Stewards inquired into an incident after passing the 200 metres. C Perkins, rider of 6 City Gold Mars, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132(i) in that after passing the 200 metres, he allowed his mount to shift out when not fully clear, resulting in 4 Handsome Alloy being hampered and then had to be checked to avoid heels of 6 City Gold Mars. C Perkins had his license to ride in races suspended for 2 race days covering the meetings of Friday, 23 June and Saturday, 24 June 2023. In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account the level of carelessness and interference, the guilty plea and C Perkins’ good careless riding record. He was advised of his rights of appeal.
