1 Charity Gold (L Corrales) - Raced three wide without cover for the majority. Performed below market expectations. Rider could offer no real reason for tonight’s performance and said his mount was one-paced to the line. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality
4 Royal Hero (K H Yu) - Bounded slightly on jumping away, as a result lost ground (1L). After passing the 800 metres had to be restrained from heels of 2 Esteeming when the pace steadied. Rider reported his whip broke during the race.
5 It’s Mind Boggling (A Da Silva) - Hung out rounding the turn from the 400 metres.
9 Courier Specialty (K F Choi) - Was marginally slow to begin and then had to be steadied from heels of 3 Ka Ying Radiance which shifted in slightly. Had to be checked near the winning post (See inquiry report).
10 Golden Wai (S H Huang) - Was slow to begin (1L).
11 Oriental Halflamma (C Perkins) - Had to be checked near the 1000 metres. (See inquiry report). Passing the 700 metres, was inconvenienced when placed in restricted room to the inside of 4 Royal Hero. Had a tendency to lay out rounding the home turn.
RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Stewards inquired into an incident approaching the 1000 metres in which 11 Oriental Halflamma had to be checked. W H Lao, rider of 7 Plikfire, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132(i) in that he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of 11 Oriental Halflamma, resulting in 11 Oriental Halflamma having to be checked. W H Lao had his license to ride in races suspended for 1 race day, covering the race meeting of Saturday 21 October 2023. In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account the level of carelessness and interference, the guilty plea and W H Lao ’s good riding record. He was advised of his rights of appeal.

K H Yu, rider of 4 Royal Hero, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132(i) in that he failed to make sufficient effort to prevent his mount from shifting in, resulting in 9 Courier Specialty having to be checked. K H Yu had his license to ride in races suspended for 1 race day, covering the race meeting of Saturday 14 October 2023, and fined the sum of HKD 5000. In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account the level of carelessness and interference, the guilty plea and K H Yu’s poor riding record. He was advised of his rights of appeal.
