Race Report

RACE-1 THE DENILIQUIN RATING 55-30 (Div.2) (CLASS 4) 1200 METRES (21)

3 Ventures Elite (R Maia) - Raced three wide without cover.
4 Lucky Runner (I Poullis) - Over raced for some distance after passing the 900 metres. Checked after passing the 200 metres. (See inquiry report) A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality
6 Star of Wing Yan (S Nakano) - Rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight, was held up when unable to improve its position.
8 Racing Brothers (Apprentice Tesuri) - Approaching the 800 metres, had to be restrained from heels of 9 Half Lamma Rainbow when the pace steadied.
9 Half Lamma Rainbow (Apprentice X C Liang) - Was held up for some distance after passing the 400 metres. From the entrance to the straight until passing the 300 metres shifted out and made contact with 11 Happy Happy Happy, when attempting to obtain a run where there was insufficient room between that gelding and 2 Mountain Monster. Apprentice X C Liang was severely reprimanded for attempting a run where there was insufficient room. At the 200 metres after obtaining a narrow run, had to be checked when tightened for room between 2 Mountain Monster and 11 Happy Happy Happy, both of which shifted marginal ground.
10 Hennu Stall (M Tanaka) - Was a little slow into stride and was then inconvenienced by 8 Racing Brothers which shifted out, as a result lost ground (1L). Laid out for some distance approaching and passing the 400 metres.
11 Happy Happy Happy (C Perkins) - At the entrance to the straight and again passing the 300 metres, was hampered and turned when bumped by 9 Half Lamma Rainbow which was attempting a run to the gelding’s inside where there was insufficient room. C Perkins reported his mount hung in and proved difficult to ride in the home straight.
12 Goahead (W H Lao) - Resaddled behind barriers. Approaching the 800 metres, was buffeted when racing tight between runners when the pace steadied.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:

R Maia, rider of 3 Ventures Elite, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132(i) in that after passing the 200 metres, he permitted his mount to shifted out when insufficiently clear of 4 Lucky Runner which had to be checked. R Maia had his license to ride in races suspended for 1 race day, covering the racemeeting of Saturday 18 November 2023. In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account mitigating factors including R Maia’s riding record and the guilty plea. He was advised of his rights of appeal.
