Race Report

RACE-6 THE HALIFAX RATING 60-40 (CLASS 3&4) 1500 METRES (90)

1 Felizmaster (R Maia) –Raced wide without cover until approaching the 700 metres where it obtained a position outside the leader.
2 Stallion Elite (L Corrales) –On jumping away was bumped by 7 Chinese Scholar which shifted out. Near the 300 metres was brushed by 1 Felizmaster.
3 Great China (C Perkins) –Acting on veterinary advice, it was withdrawn at 4:30pm when found to be lame in the right hind leg. Trainer K H Leong was informed that 3 Great China will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until a veterinary clearance is produced.
4 Winner Fortune (A Aucharuz) –Was checked leaving the 1300 metres. Near the 500 metres commenced to hang out.
5 Prosperity Star (K K Lai) –Jumped awkwardly. Leaving the 1300 metres was buffeted for a short distance between 9 Stallion Treasure and 4 Winner Fortune.
6 River Control (R Curatolo) –Raced fiercely in the middle stages. On entering the home straight was steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of 1 Felizmaster. 6 River Control was then held up when disappointed for a run between 10 Sink The Pink and 1 Felizmaster until near the 200 metres where it was obliged to shift out to obtain clear running. Brushed by 1 Felizmaster near the 200 metres.
8 So Happy (Y M Choi) –Raced wide without cover throughout.
11 Windsor Arch Three (C F Chan) –Was slow into stride.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Jockey L Corrales the rider of 2 Stallion Elite was found guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rules of Racing 132 (i) in that leaving the 1300 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of 4 Winner Fortune (A Aucharuz) which had to be checked. Jockey L Corrales’ licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of two racemeetings covering the meeting of 10th and 16th December 2016. He was advised of his Right of Appeal. On arriving at penalty the Stewards took into account his good riding record and the degree of interference.
