Race Report

RACE-9 THE NATAL RATING 60-40 (CLASS 3&4) 1500 METRES (240)

1 Bring Me Glory (N Callow) - After riding his mount to the barriers, Jockey N Callow informed the Medical Officer that he was suffering a physical discomfort and was subsequently declared unfit to continue riding. As a result the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of 1 Bring Me Glory 5:07pm.
2 Lucky Today (R Maia) - raced wide without cover throughout.
5 Franklin Lane (F Henrique) -Leaving the 100 metres had a tendency to lay in and was awkwardly placed on the heels of 2 Lucky Today and had to be steadied outwards. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
7 One More Again (K Leung) -A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
9 Northern Legend (O Chavez) - Jumped awkwardly. Leaving the 300 metres was disappointed for a run between 7 One More Again and 6 Oh So Easy. Was then held up and unable to establish clear running until near the 100 metres.
10 Tron Friend (W L Ho) -Checked near the 1300 metres. Was held up on entering the home straight, unable to establish clear running at any stage and went to the line without being fully tested.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into a racing incident at the 1300 metres where 10 Tron Friend was checked. Evidence was taken from riders of 10 Tron Friend (W L Ho), 3 One Belt One Road (L Corrales) and 5 Franklin Lane (F Henrique). Jockey F Henrique the rider of 5 Franklin Lane pleaded guilty to charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that near the 1300 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of 3 One Belt One Road which was in turn carried inwards onto 10 Tron Friend which had to be checked. Jockey F Henrique’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 2 race meetings for the meetings covering 31 May and 7 June 2019. In arriving at penalty the Stewards took into account Jockey F Henrique’s guilty plea, the degree of the interference and his riding record. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
