Race Report

RACE-4 THE YICHANG RATING 60-40 (CLASS 3&4) 1200 METRES (125)

2 Golden Key (L Corrales) -Raced fiercely in the middle stages. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
4 Tagmaster (F Henrique) -Was tightened for room on jumping away between 8 Invincible which hung in and 1 Oh So Easy which after having its hindquarters bumped by 4 Tagmaster shifted out. After considering all of the circumstances, the Stewards took no further action.
7 Association One (Apprentice C L Cheung) -In the early part of the home straight was held up and unable to establish clear running until near the 100 metres. Leaving the 100 metres raced in restricted room and had to be eased momentarily away from the heels of 8 Invincible which after hanging in under pressure, shifted out slightly when being corrected by its rider. As a result 7 Association One shifted out and in doing so bumped 4 Tagmaster. After considering all of the circumstances, the Stewards took no further action.
10 Beat The Market (J B Hamel) -Tightened for room on jumping away between 3 Star Of Yiu Cheung and 2 Golden Key which was taken out by 7 Association One which in turn was taken out slightly by 6 Thehorseiswithme. Raced wide without cover throughout. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
11 Bring Me Power (S Nakano) -Was slow to begin. Leaving the 900 metres had to be checked.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into an incident leaving the 900 metres whereby 11 Bring Me Power had to be checked. Evidence was taken from the riders of 11 Bring Me Power (S Nakano) and 7 Association One (Apprentice C L Cheung). Apprentice C L Cheung in the presence of his Master Trainer K M Chin, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that leaving the 900 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of 11 Bring Me Power which had to be checked. Apprentice C L Cheung’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 2 racemeetings covering the meetings of 6 and 7 March 2020. In arriving at penalty, the Stewards took into account his guilty plea, the degree of interference and his good riding record in that this was his first careless riding offence this season. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
