Race Report

RACE-3 THE FOSHAN RATING 85-60 (CLASS 2) 1200 METRES (216)

1 Eclair Lightning (T Appie) -After being fractious in the barriers, was removed from its stall, underwent a veterinary examination and was subsequently passed fit to race by the Veterinary Surgeon. Trainer P Leyshan was advised that a warning would be placed on 1 Eclair Lightning in relation to its barrier manners. A post race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding was lame in the left foreleg. Trainer P Leyshan was informed that 1 Eclair Lightning will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until such time that a veterinary clearance is produced.
3 Oneofthegreats (S Ladjadj) -Prior to the running of the race, Trainer G Allendorf advised the Stewards that he would be instructing Jockey S Ladjadj to settle in 2nd, 3rd or 4th position should circumstances permit. Raced fiercely in the early stages.
5 Gorgeous Bomb (D Barros) -Was tightened for room on jumping away between 4 Striking Achiever which shifted in and 1 Eclair Lightning which was taken out by 8 Hostwin Poseidon which shifted out when laying out. Near the 400 metres was eased and shifted out when awkwardly placed on the heels of 4 Striking Achiever which shifted out slightly.
6 You Are The Best (K H Yu) -Raced fiercely in the early and middle stages. A post race veterinary examination revealed that 6 You Are The Best had suffered a bleeding attack. Trainer Y C Fung was informed that the standard stand down period applies and before being permitted to race again, 6 You Are The Best will be required to pass an official Barrier Trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards and a veterinary clearance must be produced.
7 Sport Genius (W H Lao) -Raced fiercely in the early and middle stages. Checked near the 800 metres. Jockey W H Lao was dislodged from his mount near the 200 metres. Rider reported that his saddle shifted forward from the 800 metres placing him at a distinct disadvantage until near the 200 metres where he was subsequently dislodged. Jockey W H Lao underwent an examination and was stood down from further riding engagements by the Club’s Medical Officer.
8 Hostwin Poseidon (L Corrales) -Was inclined to lay out for some distance after the start and blundered near the 1150 metres. Raced fiercely in the early and middle stages.
10 Partners' Fortune (C F Chan) -Had to be steadied shortly after the start when tightened for room between 12 Destiny's Choice which was taken in slightly by 3 Oneofthegreats and 9 Gem Glory which shifted out. After considering all of the circumstances, the Stewards issued Jockey Y M Choi the rider of 9 Gem Glory with a severe reprimand and he was advised in similar circumstances that he would be expected to stop riding and straighten his mounts. Checked near the 800 metres. A post race swab was taken for analysis. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
The Stewards inquired into an incident near the 800 metres were 10 Partners' Fortune and 7 Sport Genius were checked. Evidence was taken from the riders of 2 Luen On Poseidon (F Henrique), 5 Gorgeous Bomb (D Barros), 7 Sport Genius (W H Lao) and 10 Partners' Fortune (C F Chan). Jockey F Henrique the rider of 2 Luen On Poseidon pleaded guilty to charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132 (i) in that near the 800 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of 5 Gorgeous Bomb which was taken in onto 7 Sport Genius which when racing keenly had to be checked and in turn shifted in onto 10 Partners' Fortune which also had to be checked. The Stewards issued Jockey F Henrique a monetary fine of HK$12,000 in lieu of a two racemeeting suspension. In arriving at penalty, the Stewards took into account Jockey F Henrique’s guilty plea, his disciplinary record and mitigating factors. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
