1 Shirvo (M Tanaka) - After jumping away, was hampered when tightened for room between 6 Pink Marquise and 3 Sheng Tong Viva, which despite the efforts of its rider, shifted out and away from 2 Monsignor which was in turn taken out by 8 Association Eight. As a result lost ground. Shortly after the start, had to be steadied away from heels of 3 Sheng Tong Viva. Raced a little keenly in the back straight. Beaten favorite. Rider stated that although receiving some interference at the start, his mount travelled well but failed to respond as he would have expected. Trainers N Moore/G W Moore were informed that they would be required to present 1 Shirvo to the Veterinary Hospital for a thorough veterinary examination on Sunday, 23 April 2023.
2 Monsignor (K F Choi) - Was slightly slow to begin, and was then hampered by 8 Association Eight which shifted out abruptly despite the efforts of its rider.
3 Sheng Tong Viva (L Corrales) - At the latter part of the home turn, shifted out when attempting to improve around 2 Monsignor, and in doing so, bumped 1 Shirvo. As a result became unbalanced. Performed below market expectations. Rider stated his mount travelled well throughout the race, however failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure in the straight. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
6 Pink Marquise (C Perkins) - Shortly after the start, became unbalanced after being brushed by 1 Shirvo.
8 Association Eight (Y M Choi) - Was resaddled behind the barriers.
