Race Report

RACE-2 THE BURNLEY RATING 50-20 (CLASS 4&5) 1200 METRES (324)

1 Star Of Venus (C Perkins) - After jumping, was bumped by 7 Heat Of The Battle and became a little unbalanced. Had a tendency to lay out inside the 200 metres, resulting in its rider having to stop riding and straighten his mount. A post race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding was severely lame in the left foreleg. Trainer W L Ho was informed that the gelding will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until such time that it has performed to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official Barrier Trial and a veterinary clearance is produced.
3 Hostwin Apollo (L Corrales) - Slightly slow to begin and then shifted out and lost ground.
5 Half Lamma Rainbow (K H Yu) - Raced keenly in the back straight.
6 Happy Happy Happy (H B Cho) - Resaddled behind barriers. Hung in badly in the straight, resulting in rider having difficulty in riding his mount out in his usual manner. A warning was placed on the gelding for its racing manners.
8 Carry On For Ages (M Tanaka) - From its wide alley was shifted behind runners to obtain a position on the rail.
11 Ngwah Sweetheart (M Alvarez) - Was marginally slow to begin. Passing the 900 metres had to be restrained from the heels of 5 Half Lamma Rainbow (K H Yu) which shifted in. K H Yu was severely reprimanded and notified he must be fully clear of other runners when shifting ground. After passing the 800 metres, was inconvenienced when racing tight to the inside of 3 Hostwin Apollo for a short distance.
12 Bravo Flyer (I Poullis) - Gave ground from the 400 metres and was eased down in the straight. Beaten in excess of 32 lengths. Trainer S H Cheong was informed that the gelding will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until such time that it has performed to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official Barrier Trial. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
