Race Report

RACE-3 MACAU GOLD CUP (GROUP 1) RATING O () 1800 METRES (325)

1 Star Of Yiu Cheung (S Nakano) - Had some difficulty obtaining clear running after entering the home straight until approaching the 100 metres, and near the 200 metres, brushed on several occasions with 7 Fifer.
2 Sacred Capital (W H Lao) - Brushed the side of barrier stall on jumping away and was then hampered by 13 Mystery Dancer which commenced awkwardly and shifted in abruptly. As a result lost some ground.
4 Bravo Cyclone (K H Yu) - Difficult to load. Trainer S H Cheong was informed that the gelding will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until such time that it has performed to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official Barrier Trial.
5 Follow The Nature (K F Choi) - After jumping away rolled out slightly and was then brushed by 7 Fifer and became unbalanced.
6 Master Hunter (C Perkins) - Approaching the 1400 metres, threw its head up when being restrained when close to the heels of 8 Sheng Tong Viva. When being restrained, shifted out and had to be checked when awkwardly placed between 11 Cheers Brothers and 8 Sheng Tong Viva
9 Snow Storm (M Alvarez) - Cast in barriers. Withdrawn on veterinary grounds. Trainer J Lau was informed that the gelding will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until such time that it has performed to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official Barrier Trial. Post race veterinary check revealed the gelding sustained lacerations to right hind leg.
12 Handsome Alloy (Apprentice A Liu) - Raced wide without cover until the 800 metres.
13 Mystery Dancer (Apprentice X C Liang) - Commenced awkwardly, resulting in the rider becoming extremely unbalanced. At the winning post on the first occasion, when shifting in had to be steadied from heels of 7 Fifer (M Tanaka) which rolled out slightly. M Tanaka was spoken to advisedly. After passing the 800 metres, was hampered when crowded between 12 Handsome Alloy and 8 Sheng Tong Viva which, despite the efforts of its rider, shifted out slightly when close to heels of 1 Star Of Yiu Cheung.
