Race Report

RACE-2 THE PORT AUGUSTA RATING 55-30 (CLASS 4) 1050 METRES (48)

1 Minya Konka Dragon (S Nakano) - Checked approaching the 400 metres. (See inquiry report)
2 Stuck in a Dream (K H Yu) - After jumping away, raced tight with 12 Snow Dragon for a short distance.
3 Big Boys Club (L Corrales) - After jumping away, was bumped by 10 Tron Aqua and became unbalanced. Performed below market expectations. L Corrales explained that he used his mount early to obtain a forward position, and then it commenced to pull hard which in his opinion was detrimental to its chances today. He added that approaching the winning post he had to steady his mount when being placed in restricted room between 5 Mountain Monster and 7 Silent Hero (R Maia)which rolled in slightly. R Maia was spoken to advisedly.
12 Snow Dragon (Apprentice X C Liang) - After jumping away, was crowded for room and lost ground.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Stewards inquired into an incident approaching the 400 metres in which 1 Minya Konka Dragon was checked. On the evidence it was established that near the 450 metres, 1 Minya Konka Dragon and 11 Blasting Power, which was racing to that gelding’s outside, brushed. Shortly after this 1 Minya Konka Dragon had to be checked when tightened for room between 6 Loxwood and 11 Blasting Power which may have been taken in slightly by 9 Easy Ace which was being steadied from the heels of 7 Silent Hero which shifted in when not quite clear. On the evidence and film footage available Stewards did not believe any rider displayed a level of carelessness that would result in a charge, therefore no action was taken, however all riders were notified to ensure they do the utmost to protect their fellow riders at all times.
