Race Report

RACE-4 THE GEELONG RATING 60-40 (CLASS 3&4) 1350 METRES (50)

3 Association Eight (C L Cheung) - Near the 700 metres, had to be restrained when tightened for room between 8 Hero Of Future and 12 Joyful Star which ducked in when laying in.
5 Treasurelakebuddy (K H Yu) - On jumping was checked by 9 Iu Cheong Master.
6 Sheng Tong Star (R Maia) - Unplaced equal favorite. Rider stated after suffering interference at the start, his mount got further back than anticipated and that was detrimental to its chances. A post race swab sample was taken for analysis.
8 Hero Of Future (S Nakano) - Passing the 600 metres had to be checked (see inquiry report) Beaten in excess of 29 lengths. Trainer M C Tam was informed that he would be required to present 8 Hero Of Future to the Veterinary Hospital for a thorough veterinary examination on Sunday, 3 December 2023. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
9 Iu Cheong Master (Apprentice X C Liang) - Knuckled after jumping away, then shifted out abruptly, checking 5 Treasurelakebuddy.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Stewards inquired into an incident passing the 600 metres. S H Huang, rider of 12 Joyful Star, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MJC Rule 132(i) in that he failed to make sufficient effort to prevent his mount from shifting in, resulting in 8 Hero Of Future having to be checked. S H Huang had his license to ride in races suspended for 1 race day, covering the racemeeting of Saturday 30 December. In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account the level of carelessness and interference, S H Huang’s careless riding record and the guilty plea. He was advised of his rights of appeal.
