Race Report

RACE-2 THE DORMELLO RATING 70-50 (CLASS 2&3) 1050 METRES (53)

2 Top Gun Maverick (L Corrales) – Beaten favorite. When questioned, jockey stated it was his intention to lead, and from the early to middle stages his mount was taken on by 5 Harvest Year, resulting in it going at a faster pace than expected and the horse was racing keenly rounding the home turn. In the straight the horse ran on one-paced without showing its usual finish. Jockey believed 2 Top Gun Maverick would be better suited on turf and over a longer distance. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormality.
3 Nozi Cyclone (R Maia) – Performed below market expectations. When questioned, jockey stated that it was his intention to lead in the early to middle stages he noticed horses to his outside pushing to lead, resulting in him easing off to avoid a speed battle. Around the 500 metres he shifted away from the fence to avoid the kickback, and his mount failed to respond to his riding.
7 Amelia'S Trust (Apprentice L Li) - On jumping, shifted out abruptly. Raced wide without cover throughout.
