Race Report

RACE-5 THE BRANTOME (TURF) RATING 55-30(CLASS 4) 1200 METRES (145)

1 Handsome Magnesium (Apprentice X C Liang) -At the start was buffeted between 6 Olive King and 7 Wealthyness. Near the 400 metres steadied from the heels of 7 Wealthyness.
6 Olive King (I Poullis) -Checked near the 1000 metres. (See inquiry) A post race veterinary examination revealed that 6 Olive King was lame in the left hind leg. Trainer J Lau was informed that the gelding will not be permitted to race for 11 days and until such time that a veterinary certificate is produced.

RACING INCIDENT & INQUIRY:
Stewards inquired into interference near the 1000 metres. Evidence was taken from Jockeys I Poullis rider of 6 Olive King and R Maia the rider of 4 Twotochoose. It was established that near the 1000 metres 6 Olive King which was racing greenly overreacted and checked to avoid the heels of 4 Twotochoose which shifted inwards. Jockey R Maia was issued a severe reprimand and advised to keep his mounts straight and allow sufficient room to runners to his inside in similar circumstances.
